Clay County Narcotics Officers Stung By Jacksonville Vice Squad

Narcs using innovative defense not available to ordinary john citizens

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Jacksonville deputies conducting a prostitution sting operation on Friday at a Westside Jacksonville motel detained two Clay County narcotics detectives who propositioned them for sex.

The hapless Clay County narcs are enjoying an administrative leave to give them time to concoct a "cover" story for their undercover screw up.

A Clay County Sheriff's Office spokeswoman said the narcs were actually on duty when they propositioned the Jacksonville Sherriff cop who was posing as a postitute. When the undercover Clay narcs indicated to the undercover Jacksonville vice officer that they wanted sex, Jacksonville deputies detained them.

The narcs immediately claimed they were just practicing for an undercover operation of their own.

In a display of comradery not afforded to the average john, the unnamed narcs were not arrested or cited by their vice squad counterparts. The state attorney's office has promised to listen to the audiotaped encounter. There is also an internal investigation trying to determine if this incident could be construed to be some kind of joint undercover task force operation.
